Many Hispanic women say that their faith–finding hope and meaning–provide them with comfort. This practice of finding hope and meaning can help keep you going during stressful times and provide a sense of purpose to all that you are doing.

Ask yourself questions like “What am I to learn from this?” “What are the good things that can come from this?” “How am I a better person since experiencing this stressful situation?” These types of questions can open you up to finding meaning in your experience.

Periods of quiet reflection, especially after a difficult time, are important and offer opportunities to learn from the experience.

Develop positive relationships

Having healthy relationships can help you feel good about yourself and reduce feelings of stress. Connect with others and develop supportive relationships. Smile, laugh, and do things that you enjoy. Life is a series of ups and downs. Look for opportunities to make the highs outweigh the lows.

Everyday there is something to be grateful for, whether it is a big life event, or the simple joy of talking to a good friend.
