Imagine this: You're sitting at a stop light … late for picking your kids up … and the minutes are ticking away… A tiny control tower in your brain (the hypothalamus) decides to send out an emergency signal: Send in the stress hormones! These stress hormones cause your heart to race, your breath to quicken, and your muscles to get ready for action. This response protects your body in an emergency by helping you react quickly - but when the stress response keeps firing, day after day, it can be tough on your body.
You're probably thinking - that's a lot! Pero no te preoccupes, later in this program we'll show you some things that you can do to take good care of your body and manage your stress.
* As always, we recommend talking with your primary care doctor or health professional if you are concerned about your health.
